Suffix
In rolling bearing identification, letters and numbers are used to describe various properties and characteristics of the bearing. The bearing abbreviations are standardized in DIN 623-1. The abbreviation for a rolling bearing consists of at least one basic character and may also contain prefixes and suffixes. The basic symbol contains the symbols for the bearing series and the bearing bore. This basic character is often followed by "suffixes" or "suffixes", numbers or letters that provide additional information about the bearing.
Here are some examples of
Suffixes or suffixes that can be used in rolling bearing designations:
- 2RSor -DDU : This suffix indicates that the bearing is equipped with integrated rubber seals to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.
- -2Zor ZZ: This suffix indicates that the bearing is equipped with an integrated metal dust cover. See also Sealing of rolling bearings.
- -C3: This suffix stands for a larger radial bearing clearance, which means that the balls can expand at temperature.
- -TVH or -TN: This suffix stands for a plastic cage in the rolling bearing.
- -K : This suffix indicates that the bearing has a tapered bore. In this context, the suffix K30 is also sometimes used, which means that the taper is 1:30.
- The suffix M stands for a solid brass cage, ball-guided.
- MA cage is guided by the outer ring.
- MB cage is guided by the inner ring.
- MP Solid brass window cage.

- Suffix for
NSK for the contact angle for angular contact ball bearings
A 30°pressure angle e.g. 7012 A TR SUL P3
A5 25°pressure angle e.g. 7012 A5 TR SUL P3
B 40°pressure angle e.g. 7308 BEAT85
C 15°pressure angle e.g. 7908 C T SUL P4
Actual suffixes may vary by manufacturer and bearing type. It is important to check the manufacturer's specific designation to understand the meaning of the suffixes in a particular context.
