Assembly and installation of NSK linear guides (general industrial applications)

There are two methods for installing linear guides. The first method uses a reference surface on the mounting base and enables precise horizontal alignment, similar to machine tools.

The other method uses the first rail as a reference for the second rail and is usually used when smooth movement is more important than high accuracy.

For general industrial applications, NSK recommends the interchangeable NH and NS series linear guides. Their self-aligning feature means greater tolerance for misalignment and less time spent on installation. They are also interchangeable between rail and carriage, making it easy to add or replace parts.

   The NSK K1 lubrication unit, molded from plastic and impregnated with lubricating oil, supplies fresh oil to the ball rolling surfaces. Together with the grease, it maintains the lubricating properties over a longer period of time. Since its market launch in 1996, it has been widely accepted in many industrial sectors.
6. Accuracy class: Accuracy class Ct7 is available.
7. Order separately: For the interchangeable ball screw series, the nut and threaded spindle are available separately and are universally interchangeable.
8. Options: We offer support units (sold separately) and K1 kits for interchangeable ball screws.

It is important to check the permissible speed of the threaded spindle. This is done using the d-n value (d: shaft diameter in mm, n: speed in min-¹) and the critical speed of the threaded spindle.

We recommend a d-n value of ≤ 180,000. Please contact us if your ball screws exceed this limit or the maximum speed reaches 5,000 min-¹, even if both the critical speed of the lead screw rotation and the d-n value are within the permissible range.

3. high speed and low noise: These ball screws use the end deflector recirculation system.
This enables a maximum speed of 5,000 min-¹ and reduces the running noise by 6 dB(A) compared to the tube recirculation system. Vibration is also minimized.
4. thin plastic seal: Ball screws with diameters from 10 to 25 mm are equipped with a thin seal that minimizes the loss of grease and promotes a clean environment.
Ball screws with diameters of 6 mm or 8 mm do not have such a seal.
5. lubric ation connection: A lubrication connection (M5 × 0.8) is provided as standard for screw diameters from 10 to 25 mm. Two lubrication connections on some types make maintenance even easier.
6. selection of ball screws: Three types of the Compact FA series are available, including the PSS type for general applications, the USS type for high accuracy and clean environments, and the FSS type for transfer equipment.
