Cylindrical roller bearing
Cylindrical roller bearings have cylindrical rolling elements that are in line contact with the raceways. Rolling bearings of this type can be subjected to high radial loads and are excellently suited for high speeds. Cylindrical roller bearings are available for single row bearings in the designs: NU, NJ, NUP, N, NF. For double row bearings they are available in NNU and NN, depending on the design detail and position of the ribs. Certain cylindrical roller bearings have no ribs (either on the inner or outer ring). This allows axial movement of the bearing rings relative to each other. Cylindrical roller bearings of this type can be operated as non-locating bearings. If the inner or outer ring of a cylindrical roller bearing has two ribs and the other ring has one rib, the bearing can support axial loads in one direction. Double-row cylindrical roller bearings have a high radial rigidity, which is particularly used for installation in precision machine tools. In such cases, sheet steel cages or solid brass cages are usually used, but plastic cages are also used.
